MBJ's Top 10 Anticipated Movies for 2008

(As a side note, here's a movie to add)

11. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: This looks like an interesting film, and I like Brad Pitt.

10. Traitor... I wanted to see this because this looks like a Jason Bourne movie with thrills and action.

9. Babylon A.D.... This looks like a great action movie, and I like Vin Diesel.

8. The Mummy 3: Haven't seen it, but I plan to. I'm a fan of the Mummy franchise and I can't wait to see this.

7. The Day the Earth Stood Still: I'm very excited to see this sci-fi remake.

6. Taken: I like those kind of movies where the bad guy threatens to kill the family and there's tons of action!

5. The Spirit: Now that this is PG-13, I can see it! YIPEE!

4. Transporter 3: I'm a HUGE FAN of the Transporter series. I'll give you my special 2-in-1 review later.

3. Eagle Eye: Action, thrills, chills, mystery, suspense, Shia LaBeouf, what's not to like?

2. Max Payne: Based on the trailers and the PG-13 rating, I cannot WAIT to see this amazing movie!

1. Quantum of Solace: Huge, I repeat, HUGE James Bond fan. After seeing Daniel Craig in Casino Royale, I am absolutely dying to see this Bond film!

Here are my anticipated movies. What are yours?

OH NO! OH NO!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie is being delayed! It's not coming this November, it's coming next July! Oh shoot! I was dying to see this movie.

The Spirit is PG-13!

I wanted to see this, but I knew it'd be rated R, considering it's the creator 300 and Sin City, which were "hard-R." But this is PG-13! Now I can't wait for December!!! Here's the trailer: http://www.movieweb.com/news/42/28142.php

24

I ordered a DVD with my hard-earned (seriously) money. The DVD is called 24. It's the season one special edition. It's about a man named Jack Bauer whose family is kidnapped. He has to choose to follow the villian's orders to save his family or save the president, because the villian is going to assassinate him. Jack Bauer is running out of time. And all the episodes are an hour long. It's 24 hours in all, because Jack Bauer has a long 24 hours to save the world! (Seriously, the family and the president). I can't wait for it to come in the mail!

I might see these movies by the end of August or early September; The Dark Knight (Again), Traitor, The Mummy 3, and Babylon A.D. Also check out these AWESOME videos I picked for my site...http://themoviereviews-moviebuffjr.blogspot.com/2008/08/check-out-these-videos.html

New Batman Movie?

Here's the poster.

Two questions though. One question is going on my new poll. First one, is this a real poster to you? And second, (this is going onto the poll), is the title really The Dark Knight Returns? On another poll, I'm going to ask what's a better Batman title. If you choose other, please share it on the comments board! Thank you!

Hancock Review

Here's MBJ's Hancock Review. It took a long time to see it, but I saw it.

The Good: This movie had a surprising touch of heart to it. In the trailers, this looked like a comedy. This movie had dramatic tension, espeically the end. There's comedy in this, but more drama. This movie had heart.

The Action was a fine touch to this movie. It had great effects, great destructions, and fine intense moments.

The Acting was surprisingly great! Usually in superhero movies, you just go on with the action and special effects, but in this one, especially Will Smith, has great potential for the roles.

The Story is probably the best of this. Here's the genius story about a superhero who's not loved (besides Batman, of course), but HATED. I loved a narrative and story of this.

The Bad: This movie had excessive swearing to it. They could've taken out a TON of swearing in this movie.

This movie can't decide what it wants to be. The first hour is a comedy, and the last half hour is a drama. Just mix it.

Overall: A fantastic action movie, with comedy, heart, amazing story, and great acting lets this be one of the best movies of the summer. A few problems, but may be the best Will Smith movie. 8.5/10.

Flight of the Phoenix Review

Here's my Flight of the Phoenix review.

The Good: The special effects were great! Especially the plane crash! Same with the stunts.

The acting was good, but I felt they overdid it.

This is stylized (and quite graphic for a PG-13) non-stop action. I like that.

The Bad: The story has a few plot twists that don't work.

This has a weak attempt to impress us with all of the overacting and the non-stop bad weather and action.

This is a fine action thrill-ride. Dramatic, action-packed, and entertaining. 8/10

The Golden Compass Blu-Ray Review

My grandpa has Blu-Ray. And yesterday I watched the Golden Compass on Blu-Ray.

Here is my review. (Note: As you may have heard, the author of the BOOK is an athiest. But this movie has no religion in it.)

The Good: The visuals are great, especially in Blu-Ray! In this Blu-Ray version, the snow actually sparkles and everything looks clearer. But the movie itself was a great fantasy epic. The visuals were great, even amazing enough to get an Oscar.

The action is great, especially the bear fight!

The CGI and special effects are spectacular and explosive on the Blu-Ray Disc!

The Bad: This movie is a bit boring on some parts. They last too long.

I don't like the fact that they're trying to tell different stories for each character. And I am by far more interested in the armored bears than the parts on the ship.

This movie needed more depth, like Lord of the Rings.

Overall: This movie is a fine fantasy movie, but not as good as Lord of the Rings. It needs more depth, but it's fine entertainment. I like this movie... 8/10
